    Side Effects

Zoloft is a drug that is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Like other SSRIs, sertraline also is used for treating social anxiety disorder and postmenstrual dysphoric disorder. Zoloft is not habit-forming and is not associated with weight gain. So talk to your doctor about how Zoloft might help you. Zoloft comes in 25-mg, 50-mg, and 100-mg tablets. You and your doctor can discuss a dose for you. Following is a list of treatment-emergent adverse events reported during premarketing assessment of Zoloft in clinical trials over 4000 adult subjects except those already listed in the previous tables or elsewhere in labeling. Your doctor will decide how long you need to be on Zoloft. It's important to keep taking Zoloft as directed. Even if you feel better, you shouldn't stop taking Zoloft without talking to your doctor first.
The invention of Sertraline has been attributed to two scientists at Pfizer: Stephen Werner and William Dzomba. At the time, the notion that the neurotransmitter serotonin and depression might be linked was a fairly new concept.
