How does Viagra do that? And why does Viagra work only if the man is sexually stimulated? For that matter, what causes an erection in the first place? In this article, we'll answer all of those questions and more. When Viagra was taken as recommended in flexible-dose, placebo-controlled clinical trials, the following adverse events were reported. Patients in controlled clinical trials; a causal relationship to Viagra is uncertain. Reported events include those with a plausible relation to drug use; omitted are minor events and reports too imprecise to be meaningful.

    Side Effects

Almost 200 people have died after taking anti-impotence drug Viagra, but it has not yet been proven that the drug was directly responsible for the deaths. Do not use Viagra without telling your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. It is not known if Viagra passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby.
If you are older than age 65, or have serious liver or kidney problems, your doctor may start you at the lowest dose (25 mg) of Viagra. If you are taking protease inhibitors, such as for the treatment of HIV. In placebo-controlled clinical studies, the discontinuation rate due to adverse events for Viagra (2.5%) was not significantly different from placebo. The adverse events were generally transient and mild to moderate in nature. You could be having a serious side effect of Viagra. Stop using Viagra and get emergency medical help if you have sudden vision loss. Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction.

The makers of Viagra have called the government's original decision to restrict NHS use of the drug "legally indefensible". The most common side effects of Viagra are headache, facial flushing, and upset stomach. Less commonly, bluish vision, blurred vision, or sensitivity to light may briefly occur.
Doctors are being advised to continue prescribing Viagra according to clinical need until the government's proposals become law.
GPs will start prescribing Viagra on the NHS - in contravention of a government ban - unless the Department of Health issues guidelines in the next 10 days. If you have prostate problems or high blood pressure for which you take medicines called alpha-blockers, your doctor may start you on a lower dose of Viagra.
Health service managers have urged the government to stick by its plan to restrict the NHS use of the impotence drug Viagra despite mounting pressure to make the treatment more freely available. Sudden vision loss with Viagra use has occurred most often in people with heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or certain pre-existing eye problems, and in those who smoke or are over 50 years old.
